Killick praises midfielder after dazzling display in 4-1 win

The Magpies ran rampant in the final 25 minutes of the second half against Swindon Supermarine scoring four goals as they stretched their dazzling unbeaten run to 16 games.

Talking through his thoughts on the game, Killick said: “The first half was fairly cat and mouse, it wasn’t an open game and when it did open up we took advantage and that was really powerful.

“Possession throughout the game meant that the team got tired which is why we were having more joy late on.”

Second-half substitute Marcus Daws proved to be the stand-out player for the Magpies following his performance, bagging a brace and winning the penalty converted by Olaf Koszela in his cameo appearance, and Killick praised his efforts saying: “To come on score two and win a penalty, you can’t make much more of an impact than that from 30 minutes of football.”

Despite Daws attracting interest from full-time clubs, Killick said that the midfielder’s focus is with the Magpies, saying: “He’s been working hard making up for the week he missed in training when he was having a trial the other week. We’re pleased with his efforts.

“He’s an ambitious young lad and nothing would please me more than seeing him go into full-time football.

“He told us he wants to knuckle down, be with us and see if we can stay in the playoffs and what that brings.”

Dorchester Town are flying high after this, their sixteenth game unbeaten, with 50 points in the Southern League South which sees the Magpies in fourth place.

The Magpies are away to Plymouth Parkway on Saturday.
