Golf Clubs in Dorchester
One of Dorchester’s main claims to fame is that it has been the home for so many important literary figures over the years, including Wordsworth, Hardy, Stevenson, Fielding and Townsend-Warner. All lived here at one point or another in their lifetimes, and all fell in love with the same majestic scenery that, nowadays, attracts golfers from all over the country, and indeed beyond, to take to the tees in the region.
With golf in Bournemouth proving such a successful attraction, Weymouth Town Council enlisted former Open Champion J.H. Taylor as their golf course architect in 1904, with a view to setting up a first-class 18 hole course.
We are lucky enough to be surrounded by beautiful parkland with panoramic views of the tranquil Dorset countryside toward Hardy's Monument and Prince Charles's new village Poundbury.
