Today the Keep Military Museum is a striking landmark in the heart of Dorchester. Completed in 1879, it was designed to resemble a Norman Castle, and is built of Portland stone which gives it a white appearance.

At The Keep we are gradually extending our activities for the younger members of the family. We have a new photographic picture trail aimed at primary school age children - spot all the images in the photographs as you go round the Museum and win yourself a small prize! Sit at our colouring and brass rubbing tables and make some pictures to take home .

Have a go dressing up and 'firing' a rifle - you may be surprised how heavy the uniforms and guns are!
