Fifteen young golfers took part in this year’s Junior Championship.
They teed off at 1pm as weeks of dry, sunny weather gave way to dark clouds, a heavy shower and strengthening winds from the Dorchester direction.
Despite the testing conditions, the boys and girls returned some impressive scores.
Cam Rutland claimed the best gross-score prize after carding 74, tying with Ben Sugg.
Rutland took the honour on countback thanks to a better back nine, despite a double bogey at the 18th.
The nett competition was closely fought, with four players tied on 36 points and countback required to separate the places.
Jace Crutwell finished fifth, followed by Ben Sugg in fourth, Jason Emerton third and Sam Diaz second.
Thompson emerged as overall champion after returning 43 points.
He scored 24 points on the back nine to pull clear of the field and secure the trophy.
Club captain Scott Cameron and president Brian Hansford presented the prize to Thompson.
Came Down’s junior section will stage its next event during the October half-term break.
In the club’s Centenary Ladies’ Championship, Sharon Gibson won the Dora Hutchings Cup after posting a gross total of 175.
Sue Stokey also returned a gross score of 175 but lost out on countback.
Gibson completed a notable double by also winning the Who’s A’fear’d Cup for the best nett score, recording 143.
Liz Marsden was runner-up in the nett competition with 144.
